Speck of Me
Dear Me
Over the decades, transformation has been less a choice and more a destiny. Resilience and strength kept finding its way into our backpack, time and again. There were moments we felt like giving up - but we kept moving. Even the times we ran away taught us something: that life only turns its chapters when we face our fears and solve its riddles.
Along the way, we gathered friends. Many dispersed, a few stayed. Life showed us we are among the rare who have a handful of friends who stick, and a family whose faces remain familiar even after decades of existence. Lucky us!
Speaking of friends, they say we are extroverted, that we light up spaces and people. And yes, we are witty, fun and we love deeply. But we know the truth -- we are a fusion of both extrovert and introvert. We are talkative and expressive, yet excellent keepers of secrets and promises. Aren't we? At least we try our best.
Gratitude only walked beside us but somewhere along the path we learned to consciously befriend it. That was quite a fun chapter - one worth bookmarking for life.
From comments on skin colour and appearance to toxic relationships and situations, we have battled and made sense of it all. Some lessons we understand, others remind us that life is eternal schooling.
And how can we ever forget motherhood and our little boy? Motherhood has been one of our most interesting chapters, and our son, our mightiest angel.
Life is not just beautiful - it is magical. Remember all those scoldings for being talkative? But now, we earn our living with a foundation built on that very skill. We also learnt it the hard way that what was meant to be will always be. We were in love with words and struggled with Engineering. Yet, we still thrive in our world of words with elements of our Engineering days that serve like pixie dust - bits of academia and the treasure trove of friends!
After so many decades of this journey, life feels like a grand sadhya -- a platter of joy, sorrow, nostalgia, romance, peace, battles, heartbreaks and encounters with both angels and demons. Remember that child version of ours who we discovered was still in a pit? Wasn't it beautiful when we picked her up and told her stories of how far we had come? How she giggled and laughed, prancing along, her palms clasped in ours!
Yes, life's been purple -- every flavour and emotion carrying a lesson of gold. And while this is only a speck of us, it carries the essence of all we had been - and all we are still becoming. Yes, we are fabulous and yes, we are rearing to go forward.
With love, always.
